I'm a big fan of Jayne Ann Krentz/Jayne Castle/Amanda Quick so I'm probably rating The Hot Zone more harshly than if she was an emerging author. There are so many good ideas in here that I got frustrated they weren't developed further. Don't get me wrong, this is a good weekend read, but ...
It could have been an amazing cross between sci fi and a gothic romance.
Dust bunnies are awesome, but ... nope, no detailed spoilers. It's just that Lyle the dust bunny might be too awesome in his save the day powers. I wanted the heroine Sedona to be a bit more.
Although I did love the link back to Jayne's Earth-set series -- tantalising hint.
And I have to admit the hero, Cyrus, definitely adds the "hot" of the title. He's gorgeous.
Good but not great. Definitely worth reading if you're a fan.
