Red Moon - M.A. Grant

I enjoy Dana Stabenow's Kate Shugack series that just brings Alaska into my Australian life -- wonderful when the summer temperatures are threatening to fry my mind. "Red Moon" by M A Grant delivers that Alaskan magic PLUS there are shifters!

A good shifter tale can be hard to find. Fated mates can feel forced. In "Red Moon" the dance of attraction and fear felt real. I enjoyed Evie and Flynn's romance.

Both characters have suffered abuse. This is a theme in the novel, so I don't consider it a spoiler to mention it. As a consequence, there is a dark realism to the story that isn't present in many of the light-hearted and sexy shifter romps.

An effective blend of the real world and paranormal possibilities.

Disclosure: M A Grant is a fellow Escape Publishing author. The fact that in the middle of my summers I hugely envy her Alaska's snow has not coloured my review at all ;)
