Creating Wings - Lilliana Rose
The theme of wings works well to tie the collection together. To me, the poems were about identity, and that we are that bit more than we think we are, and therefore, that we can risk that bit more than we thought we could -- our wings.

There's a strong use of language that shows an enjoyment of words, but the intent is clearly to communicate ideas.

The poem "Ideas" has the lovely line, "...the ecstatic tingles of an idea forming is addictive..."

Metaphors are perfectly chosen. The use of a flower and "petal tears" in "Gone" is memorable.

I'm glad I won such a lovely Australian collection at the Darkside blog,
