Magic Shifts - Ilona Andrews

Let's not even bother with a review. I'm totally in love with this series. Yes, if you haven't read it, you need to start at the beginning. Both the heroine, Kate Daniels, the style of writing and the strong plot evolve. "Magic Shifts" has a large cast because it's well into the series, and lots of people make up Kate and Curran's (the hero, mmmhmm) lives.

This was a great addition. One story arc had concluded in the previous book, "Magic Breaks", and "Magic Shifts" nicely set up the new one. The result is a freshness and energy that promises well. I already want the next book!

The use of history, religion and mythology re-imagined in a modern but magical world appeals to me.
